2024-10-02 Update:
- added a version with a magsafe cutout
- please comment how this works; I am not a magsafe user and did not test this out. If it's a disaster, I'll get some stickers and try it out, I built the version solely on input from a Reddit user
Original:
My first model, a two-piece case for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and what a long, hard ride it's been.
The P9PF is a Google foldable phone released in 2024, the second generation of this particular device.
The case is a two-piece, entirely my own design, no existing cases were used/measured/modeled/etc. I started designing this a few days before the phone was released and used an image along with official measurements. Almost four weeks later, here we are.
Typical two-piece case, bottom case does clip on, but the top will need tape like other cases do. It clips on, but it's pretty weak. It'll need 2 or 3mm mounting tape you can find easily online, often sold as phone or lcd mounting tape.
The bottom half comes in a few flavors for now:
- plain/smooth
- a stylish groove on the lower-left
- a 2x2 brick connector so you can print your own logo (see the pic of the white prototype)
- …or both of those two.
Note there is no hinge protection – I hope I can have the stamina to add that later, but that mechanism frightens me for now.
I am not a materials expert, so please be careful trusting your device's safety to this case. It feels solid, just make an informed decision and don't trust my take.
The case is around 3mm thick on the backplate, 4mm thick on the border.
Not using the brick connector I can print both halves without support. I recommend a smooth build plate so it looks extra nice when printed.
I hope you enjoy this and have a good time modifying it to make it unique, and share your cool remixes with the community.
