A Firefly/Serenity shadowbox based off of a paper version. This light display uses multiple layers to achieve a 3D, multi-depth look.

Printed on Bambu Labs A1 (with AMS, although it is not necessary) and textured PEI plate. Colors used: Elegoo White and Elegoo Black (available on Amazon). 0.4mm nozzle with a 0.2mm layer height. No supports needed.

What to print:

1 copy of each Asset (1-5)

1 copy of Shadowbox Frame

1 copy of Shadowbox Frame Back

5 copies of Spacer Insert (to go between the layers)

1 8in x10in piece of acrylic plastic sheet (or glass) cut to size (available at most hardware stores) - not required but helps keep area between layers clean

1 LED tape light strip (available on Amazon or most hardware stores)

I used an RGB tape light strip with remote so I can change the colors and brightness. Acrylic plastic can be easily cut to size with a utility knife and straight edge, glass will require oil and a glass cutter.

Assembly:

1.) Place the Shadowbox Frame face down on a flat surface.

2.) Insert your front plane (either plastic or glass) - this is not necessary, but keeps it from getting dusty between the layers

3.) Place Firefly Asset 1, making sure top printed layer is face down

4.) Place Spacer Insert

5.) Repeat steps 3 and 4, inserting Asset 2, 3, 4, and 5 (in that order, top printed layer down)

6.) Clean exposed inside edge of Shadowbox Frame with rubbing alcohol

7.) Install LED tape light strip, cutting to size. Feed power cable though notch at the bottom of the box

8.) Insert Shadowbox Frame Back, feeding power cable for LED lights through supplied notch at bottom

9.) Hang on a wall or place on a shelf and enjoy!
