Modelo 3D Hanging Planter (HexaHanger) por MochPoch no MakerWorld

Descrição

Hanging Hexagonal Planter (HexaHanger)

The HexaHanger is a hexagon-shaped planter, perfect for propagating cuttings and starting small trailing or aerial plants. Choose between two designs: sealed for moisture retention or open for enhanced aeration. Start your plants flat for propagation, then easily transition to hanging as they grow. Secure them through the aeration gaps of the open frame or use the hanger holes in the sealed frame for versatile options.

The HexaHanger is made of the following components:

  • Frame
    - comes in sealed and open versions
  • Hanger
    - has 2 holes, 1 for hanging, 2 for securing hanging plants (optional)
  • Grid
    - comes in sealed and open versions
  • Connector
    - used to connect the grid to the frame

I would insist on using PETG as this will be a hanging planter that could be exposed to sunlight, water and/or humid conditions. However, I've printed with PLA +/Meta for indoor aerial plants.

ParameterPETG
Nozzle diameter0.4 mm
Layer Height0.2mm
Print Speed (recommended)50% (silent)

NOTE:

  • Bed adhesion and dry filament is crucial for this print.
  • Calibrate your filament to avoid stringing and other wet filament related problems.

Frame

  1. Position at a 45° angle on the chamfered end of the frame's back.
  2. Add tree support to prevent the model from falling off the the bed plate. (The print profiles include a modeled support.)
  3. Use auto organic tree supports for openings of the backing when needed. (The print profiles include a modeled support.)
  4. Outer Brim set to 10 mm width. (Brim-object gap may be set to 0.13 to avoid the need to deburr but it might affect the bed adhesion negatively)

Grid

  1. Position flat on the bed with the protruding bevel pointing up.
  2. Use a 5mm outer brim when in doubt about bed adhesion. This will prevent the small corners from lifting up. (Brim-object gap may be set to 0.13 to avoid the need to deburr but it might affect the bed adhesion negatively)
  3. Use auto organic tree supports for the connection holes of the connectors.
  4. Optionally, set ironing to top surfaces. However, keeping the top rough will allow aerial roots to attach easier than if it was smoothed out with ironing.

Hanger

  1. Position flat on the bed.
  2. Set minimum 3 walls with 3 top and bottom layers.
  3. Use an infill of at least 50%

Connector

  1. Position flat on the bed.
  2. Set minimum 3 walls with 3 top and bottom layers

Assembly

  1. Insert the hanger from within the frame. Ensure the flat end touches the top of the frame.
  2. Slide the grid into place and align the connector holes.
  3. Insert the connector holes ensuring that the smaller end is first inserted.

The following steps are suggested in order to prevent roots from attaching to the layer gaps and prevent water from leaking out of parts like the sealed frame. As with any other closed-back growing containers, the roots tend to attach strongly for support.

The option you choose depends on the material you printed with:

  • Applying a coat or sealant, or
  • Sanding the inner portion of the component

  • Model is still being improved - there will be incremental changes but rest assured that the parts will remain compatible with each other.
  • Requests are welcome - should you need a different dimension or a part specific to your need, let me know and I will try my best to make it available.
