I purchased a cat door a while back, and it was garbage. It only had a front and back plate, while not having any type of spacer between the two sides of the door. As most modern interior doors are hollow here in the US of A, there is just a giant gap where the door is wide open. then, I remembered I have CAD and a 3D printer…..

I give you, my cat door. It prints in two parts, and, includes alignment pins to help with, well……. alignment. I recommend using some super glue during installation. Also included is a cut template. It can be used to align, plan, and cut the door to the exact dimensions needed. Even better, it includes a lock mechanism because lets face it, cats are complete a$$holes, and you'll probably want to lock them in a room for a little bit, at some point.

Assembly is easy:

1. Print it all
2. Slide the pegged side of the lock through the hole in the door.
3. Clip the non-pegged side into the pegged side of the lock. Mine snapped in pretty tightly, but, id use a dab of glue to secure it. Don't use too much, as it might overflow and glue your lock mechanism to the door.
4. Measure and cut your the door you're installing this into, to the correct dimensions. This is sized for a 34.60mm or, 1.36-inch standard interior door.
5. Use double sided tape to install one half of the doorframe.
6. Place the Cat door into the already installed cat door frame, half.
7. Apply double sided tape to the last half, and some glue to the mating surface of one of the frame halves( only if you WANT to use glue).
8. Use the alignment pegs to insert the second half of the frame. As you snap the two halves together, I would hold the installed half so you don't pop it off.
9. Press together tightly

Done.

The lock mechanism rotates to allow you to lock the door. I was going to add detents, but i got lazy. I still might, so, if thats make or break on the lock mechanism, maybe I will add them….maybe not.
