Parametric Torsion Spring Generator 🌀
This model provides a powerful tool for generating customizable torsion springs, specifically designed for 3D printing. Torsion springs are essential components in various mechanical systems, where they store and release rotational energy. The flexibility offered by 3D printing allows you to prototype, experiment, and implement these springs in small-scale projects, including robotics, custom mechanisms, and tension-adjustable systems. A good example would be my last project that includes a torsion spring !
Adjustable Parameters:
- N: Winding number – controls the number of spring coils.
- θ: End angle – sets the angular position of the spring's ends from center lip axis (see images).
- r: Center radius – defines the inner radius of the spring.
- R: End radius – determines the outer radius of the spring.
- H: Height – sets the height of the spring
- w: Winding width – adjusts the thickness of the spring coil.
L: Lip length – extends the length of the spring's ends for attachment points.

These parameters allow precise control over the spring's mechanical properties, making it a versatile solution for custom engineering applications. By tuning the dimensions, you can optimize the spring's behavior for specific loads and deflections.
