Description
QRD Panel/Skyline Diffuser
Hello, and I hope you found what you are looking for. Using a handy software I had found, I have created a rather basic sound diffuser. The design frequency is unfortunately constrained to a scatter at 740hz, diffuse at 1489hz, and HF Cutoff at 5180hz due to trying to fit an entire panel on the bed of a standard Bambu printer. The model has countersunk holes in the wells that make the most sense given the varying dimensions of the heights. Given that this is intended to mostly scatter sound, I recommend the following settings to save weight, material, and print time:
Walls: Between 1 and 3
Infill: 10-15%
Layer Height: 0.2mm layer height
Before mounting to the wall, I highly recommend using a roll of car sound deadening on the back of the diffuser in the event that there may be any resonant frequencies for the panel. Since this is a pretty hollow diffuser, using car sound deadening or a roll of sponge neoprene with a single side of adhesive can reduce or eliminate those frequencies allowing it to function better as a diffuser.
Please, if you print these, upload photos and comments. Also, I recommend mounting said panels with the proper fasteners based on whether or not you are mounting to drywall only or where there are studs.
