Quick Starter Guide

I recommend printing a set of side panels (220 × 400 mm) and then choosing the right peg length (can height) to fit your needs. Maximum can diameter: 70 mm.

UPDATE (15.01.2025) - Documentation Upgrade

As mentioned in the comments, this little project has grown quite a bit and become a bit unwieldy for new users. To help newcomers get started more easily, I’ve decided to provide a short introduction and make some minor changes to the profile names to reduce confusion. 😊

Principal Model

The original model consisted of the master panels and a corresponding set of pegs, customized to fit the height of your cans. The maximum supported diameter is approximately 85 mm (suitable for German/European tuna cans), but smaller cans are no problem either (tested down to 70 mm—cans smaller than this might not work as well).

Mid Panels

To increase storage capacity, mid panels were introduced. These allow you to upgrade your setup to hold two sets of cans using the materials required for just one of the side panels (formerly referred to as master panels). You only need to print a mid panel, which requires four plates of material—similar to the side panel but using less filament overall.

If you’ve already printed the older side panels, don’t worry! The mid panels are still compatible. However, you’ll need two mid panels since some holes for the pegs are missing in the original design.

Short Panel

For those with shallower storage spaces, a short panel (20x20 cm) has been included as a standalone option. This panel reuses the pegs from the other models. I’ll publish this as a separate model to avoid adding more complexity here. Future updates might include additional features or variations for this model, but they’ll be hosted separately for clarity.

Coming Soon

Fusion files for the pegs will soon be available for easier customization! The files were originally created using Autodesk Inventor, but since Fusion 360 is free for personal use, I plan to release the peg files in Fusion format. With these, you’ll be able to adjust a single parameter to get the exact height you need.

UPDATE (16.11.2024) - Midpanels

Midpanels are now available! These enhance the sturdiness of the modules by linking them together and help reduce filament costs.

Key Features of Midpanels:

  • The design is similar to the previous panels but with more holes, allowing them to be used across two modules.
  • They are split in half, enabling ramp support-free printing.
  • Small connecting pins are included to help align the panels before securing them with the peg set of your choice.
  • A new back panel is included, as the previous back panel was designed for the older hole configuration.

New Master Panels, Too!

  • The old Master Panels remain compatible with the new midpanels. However, because of the updated hole design, midpanels must be used in multiples of two for alignment.
  • The new Master Panels feature only the updated hole configuration and include 8 plugs to cover any unused holes.

Old Master Panels are still available for those who prefer stand-alone use :)

UPDATE (04.09.2024)

I discovered that 85 mm cans don’t fit due to the first top peg, but it can be easily removed, and the box remains pretty sturdy. I went ahead and corrected it so it works properly now. I also included a new 90 mm peg set and blank labels for your convenience.

I found the can dispenser models by cbaileyhp very neat, but none of the designs seemed to fit my needs, so I went ahead and designed my own! Here in Germany, can sizes are different from those in the US, so I wanted a model that could accommodate my specific needs. I kept all the cool functionality from the original designs and made it modular and customizable. You can simply pop in different pegs, and all of a sudden, you have a new dispenser! The model doesn’t need any fasteners and can be disassembled easily (the pegs are fully removable, and if needed, the panels can also be disassembled). The labels can be printed and snapped right into the front peg or slid in during assembly.

Dimensions:

  • The panels are 220mm in height and 400mm in depth. The panels themselves are 20mm wide, and the pegs can be chosen based on your needs. I’ve included three sets:

    • 110mm peg set: Max can height 110mm.
    • 85mm peg set: Max can height 85mm.
    • 45mm peg set: Max can height 45mm.

A chickpea can has a height of 110mm and a diameter of 75mm. A corn can has a height of 85mm and a diameter of 85mm.A tuna can here in Germany has a height of 45mm and a diameter of 85mm.

The panels can hold cans with a diameter of up to 85mm and fit up to 10 cans (75mm in diameter). Smaller diameters shouldn’t be a problem, but I didn’t have any smaller cans on hand to test. I’ll keep you posted if I get some and test them. :)

Happy printing!
