Descrição
Hello MakerWorld,
These are wood cutting/carving blocks or ‘jigs’. While working on our first post of the Kumiko Asanoha Display Panel and looking for something to heat-set (new tools!), I thought of making these.
Included are two jigs that are the exact dimensions and angles that can be used for Kumiko woodworking. In particular, the 22.5, 45, 67.5 angles needed for making the Asanoha pattern. The grooves of the jigs fit a common (I think) wood strip size at 1/8th deep by 1/2th inch wide, or 3.175mm by 12.7mm.
The thumb screw is my own design for an M5 bolt (fun CAD learning experience). The included cube with a hole in it is to help heat set the bolt which worked surprisingly well. I didn't need a press for our soldering iron, just go carefully and with consistent pressure. The underside of the jigs have a slot for flush trim cuts.
Note: I think the BOM idea in posting is a great idea but I didn't see what I used listed. I got Heat-Set Insert Tips for the threaded inserts but didn't end up needing them. This is what I used, both are heat set:
- 2 x M5 x 12mm Hex Socket Head Cap Bolts
- 2 x M5 Heat Set Threaded Inserts
If you use our jigs for real wood carving, please consider sharing a picture. We would love to see how these jigs work for you!
Cheers,
MJDD
