Printing Settings

The printing is optimized for the following options:

• 0.32 First layer height
• 0.24 Layer height
• 0.44 Layer width

• Notes:
  • Each element fits using dovetail joints, so it is necessary to check tolerances accurately. The parts come with a clearance of 0.1mm.
  • Each segment contains a small rail for the LED strips. This rail serves for centering and prevents the strips from sticking. However, it can be removed to glue them.
  • The trickiest part of the design is soldering the LED strips. It's not very complicated, but it could be a small issue if you lack experience because there isn't much space to work with.
  • The model can be scaled using the Fusion360 project to obtain smaller or larger segments (Not tested)

Materials

• 1 x ESP32
• WS2810B 30 Leds per meter (Each digit contains 2 leds plus two dots)
• 1 x DC Conector 5mmx2.1mm
• Wires to connect each led strip (20AWG)

• 2 x Top_Bot Segment
• 1 x Center Segment
• For the digits on the ends:
  • 2 x Vertical Segment End
  • 1 x Top Left Bot Right Segment
  • 1 x Top Right Bottom Left Join Segment
• For the digits in the middle:
  • 2 x Top Left Bot Right Segment
  • 2 x Top Right Bottom Left Join Segment
• For each pairing of two digits:
  • 1 x Join Segment
• For the case containing the ESP32:
  • 1 x Dot CoverESP32
  • 2 x Box Cover
  • 1 x ESP32Box

ESP32 and LED Wiring

• The LED strip that goes to the minutes is controlled by PIN 16.
• The LED strip that goes to the hours is controlled by PIN 17.
• The LED strip that goes to the seconds dots is controlled by PIN 18.
• ESP32 5v is connected to DC Jack with all positive led strip*.
• ESP32 GND is connected to DC Jack with all negative led strip*.

The connection scheme for the LED strips is as follows (The scheme could be modified, but it would involve changes in the firmware)

* I recommend this for these connections.

Code

• The needed code can be found in my Github respository.

Web configuration **

• Set timezone
• Led color by segments (hours, minutes and seconds)
• TurnOff at a range of hours
