Stackable spool rack

*from 3D printed parts and Ø8mm aluminum rods.

Sturdy, stable.

Infinite in length.

Infinite in height (I found that a minimum of 200mm rod (vertical ones) length between racks provides proper access to load and unload spools from the rack)

Infinite in stacks.

What to print:

• bottom part; mandatory as it's serving as the bottom rack and the racks that are to come
• mid part; only if you want at least 3 racks
• top part; the end of the stack - interchangeable with mid part (you can add a middle section later simply by replacing the top part with mid part)
• ***print at least two of each component as they are needed for the left and right side

Hardware:

• Ø8mm rods (can be aluminum, steel, stainless steel, you name it, just judge on your own if it can hold the weight)
• electrical tape (because 8mm seems to be only a suggestion for manufacturers, you can add a tiny bit of tape on the rods to make them fit sturdy in the holes)

How to assemble:

• print the necessary parts, as mentioned earlier, two of each section (bottom, mid if needed, top)
• pull the horizontal rods (red color in the rendering) trough the holes and check for the desired length && if the rods flex under the spools weight (if flex is present, you should add another part as support, same as the current layer) - repeat for every desired layer of the rack
• mark the desired length and cut the rods to length
• cut other sets of rods for the horizontal support for the next layer (brown color in the rendering) - I'd suggest at least 200mm for proper loading/unloading spools on the rack
• stack on top the next layer (either mid, meaning that you are gonna have at least 3 layers, or top, meaning that you are ending up with two layers)
