This is a self developed DIY display with 4 8x8 led matrix dot modules. It can be used for static text or can be connected with homeassistant, mqtt, etc. over your local network (wifi) to display serval information like temperature, humidity, text or simply the time. Power supply via USB-C 5v, PD is supported so you can use all standard USB-C power supply units e.g. from your laptop.

Used hardware:

• MAX7219 dot matrix module 4x 8x8
• Wemos D1 mini
• Type-C QC AFC PD2.0 PD3.0 to DC Spoof Scam Fast Charge Trigger Polling Detector
• A few stranded wires

How to set it up:

• Connect the matrix with the wemos (you can google the wiring plan e.g. “wemos d1 mini led matrix wiring”)
• Flash the your controller via ESPHome or via the esphome homeassistant add-on (See the attended example yaml config file)
• Test it!
• Print the housing, cover and inlet (white PLA)
• Put everything together
• Done!

There is also a version twice as wide in the print profiles :)
