Modular Curtain Track System

This modular curtain track system is infinitely extendable. You will find individual parts on separate print plates, allowing you to print exactly the quantity you need. Alternatively, there is a print plate containing 7 track segments and 2 end caps.

Each track segment is 220 mm long. Seven segments are sufficient for a standard patio or balcony door and work well with most standard curtains.

The curtain gliders are designed for many European standard curtain hooks, which attach to the back of the curtain. A separate test print plate for a single glider is included. If you are unsure whether your filament is properly calibrated, print the test glider first and check that the wheels rotate freely.

Important Printing Notes

• Use a Smooth Plate only (preferably with 3DLAC) to achieve the required dimensional accuracy.
• Otherwise, parts may not fit together correctly, or the gliders may create excessive noise when moving.

Assembly

I joined the track segments using a small amount of super glue (cyanoacrylate). Simply apply a thin layer of glue to each connector before pushing the pieces together.

For best results, assemble the track on a long, flat surface such as a kitchen countertop. This helps keep the track perfectly straight while the glue cures. Once dry, the complete track is surprisingly rigid, even over longer distances.

I mounted the finished track to the ceiling using thick transparent double-sided mounting tape. I intentionally avoided screws because I did not want to drill into reinforced concrete. Depending on your ceiling, you may prefer a different mounting method.

Do not glue the end caps in place! 

They should remain removable so you can take the gliders out whenever you need to remove your curtains for washing. 😉

Final Thoughts

The system performs surprisingly well and glides much more smoothly than expected. While it is not completely silent, I have already replaced several commercially available curtain track systems in my own home with this printed version.
