Hellboy Duck
"Yeah, look, I'm not a big fan of the whole 'end of the pond' thing."
What happens when the world's toughest paranormal investigator gets turned into a rubber duck? You get the Hellboy Duck! Featuring Hellboy's iconic red skin, filed-down horns, oversized stone right hand, and signature attitude, this duck is ready to investigate the strange and supernatural—one bath at a time.
Whether you're a fan of comics, supernatural adventures, or quirky character mashups, the Hellboy Duck makes a fun addition to any collection, desk, or display shelf.
Design Process
This model was created using a hybrid workflow of AI-assisted generation and traditional 3D modeling.
I began with an original mashup concept, then used AI-assisted tools to explore different forms and proportions. After selecting the strongest base design, I refined the model to improve the details, clean up geometry, and optimize it for reliable FDM printing.
Print Settings
- Layer Height: 0.20 mm
- Infill: 5% Gyroid
- Supports: Tree Supports (required)
- AMS Required: Yes
Filaments Used
- Kingroon PLA Red
- Kingroon PLA Orange
- Anycubic PLA+ Black
- Anycubic PLA+ White
Post-Processing Notes
Support removal is fairly straightforward on this model. The tree supports come away cleanly with only a little effort, leaving very little cleanup before your Hellboy Duck is ready for display.
Print Testing
I always print my models before releasing them so I can make sure they actually work and look good in real life.
Most of the time, I start with a simple single-color test print first. That lets me check the overall geometry, supports, and printability without burning a ton of filament. If everything comes out clean, I'll move on to the full multicolor AMS version.
My prototyping and testing setup includes two Bambu Lab P1S printers and two Snapmaker U1 printers, which lets me quickly iterate between test prints and full-color versions depending on what I'm working on.
That said, if I'm already confident in the design—usually from similar prints or earlier versions—I might skip straight to the multicolor print.
