A lightweight and durable pool skimmer that is easy to print and assemble. The removable handle makes the skimmer compact for storage and transport, while still being sturdy enough for everyday pool maintenance.

Instead of using a traditional sewn net, this design uses standard fiberglass insect screen secured with a 6 mm spline (window screen cord). The mesh is inexpensive, widely available, and can be replaced in just a few minutes if it becomes damaged.

Suggested materials

You can use almost any standard fiberglass window screen and 6 mm spline, such as the products available from Praxis or similar products sold on Amazon.nl, Amazon.de and Amazon.com.

Print Settings

• Material: PETG (recommended)
• Layer height: 0.20 mm
• Walls: 3–4
• Infill: 20–30%
• Supports required

Important: After removing the supports, make sure to completely clean the spline groove. Any remaining support material will make it difficult to press the mesh and spline into place.

Assembly

1. Cut the insect screen slightly larger than the frame.
2. Lay the mesh over the groove.
3. Press the 6 mm spline into the groove using a spline roller or a blunt tool.
4. Trim the excess mesh with a hobby knife.

Future Add-ons

I'm currently designing several accessories:

• A pole adapter, allowing the removable handle to be replaced with a coupling for a longer telescopic pole.
• A pool wall mount, allowing the skimmer to hang partially in the water. With sufficient water circulation from the pool pump, it can continuously catch small floating debris before it spreads across the pool.
