Arc Tree Perch Stand – 160 mm
This decorative stand was created from a very simple idea: instead of designing a traditional display base from scratch, I placed a clean arc shape approximately 160 mm above the build plate and used the generated tree support structure as the final object.
The result is an organic, branch-like display stand with a natural and sculptural look. What is usually removed and thrown away after printing becomes the main design itself. The support structure turns into a decorative perch, perfect for displaying articulated 3D printed creatures.
This stand works especially well with:
- flexi lizards
- articulated dragons
- geckos
- snakes
- small reptiles
- fantasy creatures
- small figurines
- decorative desk models
The curved top gives the animal a more dynamic pose, while the tree-like branches create a natural display effect. It is ideal for photos, shelves, desks, classrooms, exhibitions, MakerWorld model presentations, or simply as a fun decorative object.
The model has an experimental and procedural look, because the final shape comes from generated supports. Each branch-like connection gives the stand a unique organic style, somewhere between a tree, a perch, and a sculptural display base.
This is not just a support structure: it is the final model.
The stand is designed to be printed as a decorative object and can be used to give more life to flexi animals that are usually displayed flat on a table. By placing them on top of the arc, the creature appears more natural, more visible, and easier to photograph.
Important:
The articulated lizard shown in the photos is not included.
This upload contains only the decorative tree perch stand.
Printing Notes
The model can be printed in PLA and does not require any additional assembly. A brim may be useful depending on your printer, filament, and bed adhesion, especially because the base is relatively narrow compared to the height.
Recommended settings:
- Material: PLA / PLA+
- Layer height: 0.20 mm
- Walls: 2 or 3
- Infill: 10–15%
- Brim: recommended if bed adhesion is weak
- Supports: Activate
- Height: approximately 160 mm
You can scale the model depending on the size of the creature or figurine you want to display.
Design Concept
The idea behind this model is to reuse the visual language of 3D printing itself. Tree supports are normally temporary, hidden, and removed after printing. Here, they become the main aesthetic of the object.
By transforming a generated support into a final decorative stand, the model keeps a raw, organic, and technical appearance. It is a simple but original way to create a display base for flexi models, while showing the beauty of the 3D printing process.
