Descrição
Pattern weights you dial in by weight. Set a target — say 200 g — and the
model sizes the sealed cavity to hit it with 304 stainless steel balls. No
guessing, no glue, no leaking sand. Print the two-part puck, pour in the balls,
press the lid closed. Done.
WHY THIS ONE
- Pick your weight. The cavity auto-scales to your target, anywhere from 40 to
500 g per weight.
- It tells you exactly what to buy. On Generate, the readout prints the precise
number of Bambu Lab Maker's Supply ball packs and the cost — e.g. "9 packs of
8 mm 304SS balls (90 balls) — $16.74."
- Sealed two-part design. Press-fit lid, no rattle, nothing escapes onto your
fabric.
- Multicolor-ready. The top engraving and lid are set up for a quick AMS color
swap.
- Printable reorder card. A matching credit-card-sized tag records the recipe
and sourcing so you can rebuild the exact same set months from now.
- Engineered fits. Tight clearances, and the cavity is auto-protected from being
set too shallow for the ball size you chose.
HOW TO CUSTOMIZE
Click Customize. Set your target weight and ball size — everything else (cavity,
walls, lid, engraving) has sensible defaults. Hit Generate and download. The
output readout is your shopping list.
Three views in the Layout tab:
- Print Layout — the body and lid laid out flat, ready to slice (download this).
- Assembled Preview — see the finished weight with the engraving on top.
- Spec Card — a printable reorder tag for the set.
BALLAST & SOURCING
Built around Bambu Lab Maker's Supply 304 stainless steel balls (FA-series,
10 pcs per pack). Add the matching SKU to your cart from the BOM for one-click
ordering. The same cavity also takes hardware-store steel shot, BBs, or coins if
you'd rather source it cheap — stainless is just the clean, rust-free,
fabric-safe option.
PLAN YOUR SET FIRST (OPTIONAL)
Want to compare ball sizes and cost before you print? Use the interactive Weight
Calculator: PATTERN-WEIGHT-DESIGNER
It shows pack count, cost, and the size trade-off for any target weight. Larger
balls mean fewer packs and lower cost but coarser weight steps; smaller balls
hit your target more precisely.
PRINT SETTINGS
- PLA or PETG, 0.2 mm layers, ~15% infill — the steel does the work, not the plastic.
- No supports needed. The body prints open-side up; the lid prints disc-down.
- Color-swap the top layer or lid for contrast if you run an AMS.
- Test the lid fit first. The default plug clearance is 0.10 mm — print one body
and lid and check the press fit on your printer before running a full set.
ASSEMBLY
1. Print the body and the lid.
2. Pour in the steel balls.
3. Press the lid in.
Tip: print the Spec Card once per set and zip-tie it to your bin — it's your
reorder recipe and a quick assembly checklist in one.
