This insert modifies a store-shelf farm chick feeder to limit the flow of feed within the feeder.  If you have used this style feeder, you know that as soon as the feed starts flowing, it fills up to the ports.  Chicks begin to peck, flick, and scratch at the feed, per their natural habits, and the feed begins to sling everywhere.  Not only does it waste food, it also begins to draw flies to reproduce on the fallen feed.  This modification creates a shallower release gap, and the chicks reach up with their beaks to pull feed to themselves; it does not mound up as it used to, enough that they are wasting massive amounts of chick feed.  Hopefully, this helps budgeting farmers conserve and stretch their bottom line a little further.
