VentForge - Parametric Vents & Covers

VentForge is a customizer for printable vent grilles, vent covers, wall inserts, inspection covers, mesh inserts, and experimental backdraft shutter fronts.

It is useful when a ready-made store grille does not fit your wall opening, duct, workshop vent, cabinet vent, utility room, garage, shed, or custom project.

🚀 Quick Start

1. Measure the real wall opening.
2. Choose a Size Preset or enter your own dimensions.
3. Choose a Function Preset:
   • Rain louver
   • Printed mesh
   • Slicer-infill mesh
   • Inspection cover
   • Backdraft shutter
   • Airflow-compensated louver
   • Glue mount
4. Generate, slice, and test fit before printing a large final part.

Presets are starting points. You can keep the preset and disable selected override groups if you want to fine-tune only one part of the design.

🧪 Experimental Features

Some features are intentionally marked experimental:

• Backdraft shutter front - separate moving blades pressed into the front frame.
• Experimental center-side shutter hinge - optional alternative hinge position for the moving shutter blades.
• Airflow compensation - enlarges the front grille area when louvers or mesh reduce open area.
• Real mosquito mesh holder - for testing a clamped piece of real mesh.
• Asymmetric margins on non-rectangular frames - useful for custom covers, but oval, hexagon, and octagon can render differently than a rectangular frame. Circle and flower stay radial, so margins mainly change overall size.

These modes are useful, but fit and movement depend on printer calibration, material, layer height, and selected clearances. Test small before printing large.

🖨️ Print Notes

The default output places parts flat on the bed. Assembly preview keeps the mounted orientation so you can inspect how the parts stack together.

For the printed mesh, the Solid pattern creates a thin plate that can be turned into a slicer-generated mesh by using sparse infill and disabling top and bottom shells.

If the fit is too tight, increase the clearance values before printing a full-size vent.

The generator includes EN, PL, and DE SCAD versions.
