Modular Filament Storage System

A modular storage system designed for safe, organized, and space-efficient storage of 3D printing filament spools in their original packaging.

The system is built around a simple concept - each storage level (box) provides enough space for standard 1 kg filament spools while keeping everything easily accessible. Thanks to its modular design, you can start with a small setup and expand it whenever you need.

Stability

The construction is intentionally lightweight while remaining rigid enough for everyday use.

Standalone configuration

The storage tower is designed to be safely stacked up to 8 storage levels without additional wall support.

8+ Levels

For taller towers (more than 8 levels), I recommend using the included wall mounting brackets.

These brackets allow the storage system to be securely attached to a cabinet, wall, or another solid surface, significantly improving lateral stability and preventing the tower from tipping when fully loaded.

The mounting brackets are included in the project:

Customization Options

Everyone has a different taste, so I've included several design options.

Side Panels

Choose from 6 different side panel styles:

• Style 1
• Style 2
• Style 3
• Style 4
• Style 5
• Style 6

All side panels are fully compatible with the system and can even be mixed within the same build.

Rear Braces

Two rear reinforcement styles are included:

• Standard Rear Brace

• X-Brace

  

Both provide structural support while giving the storage system a different appearance.

Included Parts

The project contains:

• Base shelf
• Double base shelf
• Top cover
• Rear brace (2 styles)
• Side panels (6 styles)
• Spacer / stand-off
• Left wall mounting bracket
• Right wall mounting bracket

This allows you to build the storage system exactly to your needs.

Printing

Recommended settings:

• Layer height: 0.24 mm
• Walls: 4
• Infill: 10% (Gyroid or Grid recommended)

No special hardware is required.

Notes

• The modular system is intended for storing filament in its original packaging.
• For maximum stability, place the storage on a flat and level surface.
• If building a tower taller than 8 levels, use the included wall brackets.

Future Development

I plan to expand the system with additional accessories and new panel designs over time.
