What Is It

It's an ice cube tray. Except instead of making boring ice cubes it makes 24 tiny severed heads of Rocktopus — the Bambu Lab mascot — who I have decided is Dwayne Johnson. I don't make the rules. Actually I do make the rules, I made this tray, and the first rule is that Dwayne Johnson is an octopus, and the second rule is that I chopped his head off and put it in your drink.

Why

I cannot explain the creative process. At some point I had the rocktopus model open and I looked at it and I thought — just the head. Just the head in a grid. 24 of them. Frozen. In someone's drink. And I felt nothing but certainty.

How It Works

You print the tray. You fill it with water. You put it in the freezer. You come back later and you have 24 tiny decapitated Dwayne Johnson heads ready to slowly dissolve in your beverage. You watch them melt. His little face disappearing into your iced coffee. You feel something. You're not sure what. You make another batch.

It's a 4 wide by 6 tall grid of severed rocktopus head shaped cavities cut into a clean rounded rectangle tray. 24 heads per batch. That number was chosen because it's how many fit and also because if you're already doing this you might as well commit.

Print This In TPU. No Really.

This needs to be printed in TPU. Flexible filament. That's not a suggestion, that's just how ice cube trays work — you need to be able to flex the tray to pop the ice out, otherwise you're just making a permanent frozen monument to Dwayne Johnson that lives in your freezer forever and never comes out.

If you print this in PLA you will fill it with water, freeze it, and then attempt to pop out 24 Dwayne heads and instead shatter the entire tray into pieces like a war crime. You will have a frozen solid brick of PLA with 24 Dwayne faces staring up at you through the ice, completely unreachable, judging you. You will have to run it under warm water and watch the whole thing slowly crack apart and you will have learned nothing except that you should have used TPU. Use TPU. Dwayne would use TPU. Dwayne is flexible both physically and as a filament choice.

The Part Where I Tell You About The File

There are 17,862 triangles in each individual decapitated head. There are 24 heads. I'll let you do that math. The slicer will also be doing that math and it will be deeply confused about its life choices, much like the rest of us.

How To Use Dwayne

1. Print in TPU (see above, do not be a hero)
2. Fill with water
3. Freeze
4. Flex the tray
5. Pop out 24 severed Dwayne heads with ease because you used TPU like a sensible person
6. Drop into beverage
7. Watch Dwayne's little face slowly melt into your drink
8. Consume Dwayne
9. Repeat

FAQ

Is this food safe?
That's between you, your filament brand, and whatever choices you've made that led you to this moment. Use food safe TPU if you can find it. You're already making severed head ice cubes, might as well do it responsibly.

Why is it called Dwayne The Rock Ice Cube Maker
Because "Rounded Rectangle With 24 Decapitated Rocktopus Head Negative Boolean Cutouts" didn't test well with focus groups.

Can I use it for chocolate
Absolutely yes. Dwayne's severed head would be honored. You can give someone a box of 24 Dwayne Johnson head chocolates and that is a thing you can do now.

Can I print it in PLA
You can. You won't get any ice out of it but you can. It'll look great sitting in your freezer as a cautionary tale.

Will my family think this is normal
They will not.
