Descrição
This is my version of an enclosure for a MAX7219 4 module LED display powered by an ESP32. The shape of the clock was inspired by Adam Conway's version on Printables. My version includes a more robust mounting mechanism for the MAX7219 display, an ESP32 micro, an optional transparent/translucent lens and a back cover to accommodate a USB cable.
Since there are many different versions of the ESP32, I included a mounting plate (I called it a Keeper) to accommodate the ESP32s I bought from Amazon (look for this Amazon product, ESP32 DevKit V1) and another version that is blank so it can be used as a basis for other mounting options (or double sided tape heaven forbid). The Keeper can be attached with short pan head sheet metal screws with a diameter of around 3.5 mm. This ESP32 can be mounted with short 2.5 mm pan head sheet metal or machine screws.
On the second build plate, there is an optional Clock Body that can be used with a 1 mm thick filter/lens. I tried different filters using filament I had on hand, but didn't like the look. I liked the look of the bare MAX7219 so I printed the version on Build Plate #1. The second build plate also includes the blank Keeper.
Apparently there are at least two different versions of the MAX7219 with slightly different dimensions. This model requires a panel width of 132 mm. This Amazon product fits perfectly.
