Here is a drawer pull template jig to allow you to pattern route an opening for your hand. There are two designs - Version 1 and Version 2. There are individual build plates for each version and a build plate with both versions on it. If you choose to print both designs, they can be used in tandem; one for the pattern routing, and the other to support the back side of the workpiece. I have included channels for the use of Microjig Matchfit clamps (or equivalent). If you do not have clamps that can work, then double sided tape will work just as well. 

If you print both designs, they have been designed to nestle together for easier storage or wall hanging. 

For use, there is a mark indicating the center of the pattern, I would suggest marking the line along the face of the template to allow for easier alignment, I would suggest using a pencil or marker as to not create any ridges in the routing surface. 

The templates can be used with both a handheld router, clamping the workpiece to a worksurface or used on a router table utilizing both templates, or a 13mm board in place of the second template. 

In the pictures, I used a router table with a ¾" (19mm) flush trim bit.
