Wasp Trap – Reusable, Bee-Friendly Garden Trap

I love spending time on my deck during the warmer months, but there always seems to be one problem….. wasps. It can be difficult to enjoy a meal, a drink, or simply relax outside when wasps are constantly buzzing around.

After the incredible response, downloads, and positive feedback I received for my Ant Trap model, I started looking for a similar solution for wasps (no pun intended!). I wanted something that was effective, reusable, and looked good enough to leave out in the garden, on a patio table, or hanging from a tree, pergola, or fence.

The goal was to create a trap that was not only functional but also customizable. Print it in a single color, use contrasting colors for the lid and body, or create a two-tone design that complements your outdoor space. 

Most importantly, I wanted a bee-friendly design that targets nuisance wasps while helping to protect beneficial pollinators when used with the recommended attractant.

The result is this reusable Wasp Trap featuring a simple but effective funnel design that captures and eliminates wasps around gardens, patios, decks, campsites, and outdoor entertaining areas.

Three sizes will be availabe:  Large, Medium and Small.

• Large holds  just under 4 cups of liquid
• Medium holds just Under 2 cups of liquid 
• Small Container holds just Under 1 cup of  liquid

How it works:

Wasps enter through the 19mm openings at the base and are attracted by the liquid bait inside. Once they move up through the funnel, they become trapped in the liquid and are unable to escape.

Recommended Bee-Friendly Attractant:

• 1 Part Apple Cider Vinegar
• 1 Part Sugar
• 1 Part Water
• Optional: A few drops of dish soap to break surface tension

This mixture is effective at attracting wasps while being less attractive to bees than sweet fruit-based baits.

For the Large Sized container use the following measuments:

• Apple Cider Vinegar 1 Cup
• Sugar 1 Cup
• Water 1 Cup

For the Medium Sized container use the following measuments:

• Apple Cider Vinegar  ½ Cup
• Sugar ½ Cup
• Water ½ Cup

For the Small Sized container use the following measuments:

• Apple Cider Vinegar  1/3 Cup
• Sugar 1/3 Cup
• Water 1/3 Cup

Usage:

• Fill the trap with attractant until the liquid level is just below the funnel opening.
• Install the screw-on lid.
• Place or hang the trap away from seating and high-traffic areas.
• Refresh the attractant every 7–10 days or as needed.

• Print body and lid separately
• Optional lid with slot and hanger
• No supports required
• PETG or ASA recommended for long-term outdoor use
• PLA suitable for seasonal use in shaded locations (This what I am using right now.
