The Wavespire Vase

The Wavespire is a tall, twisted spiral vase featuring ten continuous ridges that wind 120 degrees from the base to the rim. Because the ridges pulse slightly in and out along the height, every single angle catches the light differently. It gives the vase a sense of fluid movement rather than looking like a rigid, static shape.

I modeled this parametrically in Fusion 360 to keep the curves clean and ensure the wall thickness stays completely uniform from top to bottom. It means you won't get any colliding geometry or those weird, uneven "stacked layers" often found in hand-modeled meshes. The interior is fully hollowed with an open top, so it works perfectly for fresh flowers (just use a glass liner or PETG for waterproofing) or dried arrangements like pampas grass.

This design prints beautifully in vase mode using a standard 0.4 mm nozzle. If you want something a bit sturdier, it also works great with 2 to 3 perimeters. A nice bonus of the 10-ridge pattern is that the shadows naturally hide layer lines, meaning you can print fast without sacrificing the surface finish.

Filament Suggestions

• Matte PLA: Gives it a beautiful ceramic look and hides layer lines completely.
• Silk or Rainbow PLA: The spiral geometry really makes color transitions and shiny filaments pop.
• PETG: Highly recommended if you want to hold water directly without a glass insert.
• Wood-fill PLA: Looks incredibly organic, especially if you use a darker walnut blend.
