Smooth-Rolling Reusable AMS Refill Spool

A reusable twist-lock filament spool designed for Bambu Lab and Polymaker refill filament.

This spool is made for everyday use with the original AMS, AMS 2 Pro, and AMS HT, while keeping the practical layout of a Bambu-style refill spool. It uses a secure two-part twist-lock design, has rounded outer edges for smooth rolling inside the AMS, and includes several useful features for handling, labeling, storing, and reusing refill filament.

The exchangeable label insert is designed to fit the original Bambu refill sticker size, so you can reuse the sticker included with Bambu refill filament and place it in the correct spool position.

Print recommendation

Print this spool in PETG-HF or a higher temperature-resistant filament.

Recommended materials include:

• PETG-HF
• PETG
• PCTG
• ASA
• ABS
• PC

PLA is not recommended, especially if the spool may be used in an AMS, AMS HT, filament dryer, enclosure, or warm room. A more heat-resistant material helps the spool stay round and reliable over time.

Assembly

1. Place the refill coil into one half of the spool.
2. Keep the refill straps in place until the coil is seated.
3. Align the second spool half.
4. Twist to lock both halves together.
5. Remove the refill straps.
6. Apply the Bambu refill sticker to the exchangeable label insert.
7. Insert the label.
8. Secure the filament end in the integrated filament clip.

This spool is designed to be practical, reusable, and easy to handle. The rounded outer rim helps it roll smoothly, the viewing cutout makes remaining filament easy to check, and the Bambu-size label insert makes it simple to reuse the original refill sticker.

For best long-term reliability, use PETG-HF or a filament with similar or better heat resistance.
