Overview

The Modular Keycap Display Stand is a customizable and expandable display system designed for showcasing mechanical keyboard keycaps. Each stand contains three recessed display slots sized to comfortably accommodate keycaps with square bases up to 1.85 cm × 1.85 cm.

Unlike many modular display systems, the connector mechanism is intentionally concealed within the design. When assembled, no connector components protrude from the sides of the stand, and the connector slots remain hidden from the front-facing view. This creates a clean, uninterrupted appearance whether the stand is used individually or as part of a larger modular arrangement.

Design Features

Clean and Minimal Appearance

A primary objective of the design was to maintain a professional display aesthetic. The connector slots are positioned such that they are not visible from the front of the stand, preserving a clean presentation of the displayed keycaps. Additionally, the snap-fit connectors do not extend beyond the outer profile of the stand, preventing exposed attachment hardware from detracting from the display.

Three-Slot Display Layout

Each display plate is designed with three recessed slots, allowing up to three keycaps to be displayed per plate. The slot dimensions are optimized to comfortably fit keycaps with square bases measuring approximately 1.85 cm × 1.85 cm, ensuring secure placement while maintaining ease of removal.

Modular Expansion System

The display system utilizes detachable snap-fit connectors that allow multiple plates to be joined together without tools or additional hardware. Users can easily expand the display by adding more plates and connectors as needed.

Interchangeable Components

Plate 1 – Universal Expansion Plate

• Contains three keycap display slots.
• Includes connector slots on both sides.
• Can connect to display plates on the left and right.
• Suitable for use as a central module in larger display arrangements.

Plate 2 – End Plate

• Contains three keycap display slots.
• Includes connector slots on one side only.
• Designed for use at the beginning or end of an expanded display assembly.

Plate 3 – Standalone Plate

• Contains three keycap display slots.
• Does not include any connector slots.
• Functions as an independent display stand.

Plate 4 – Snap Connector

• Separate connector component.
• Slides into matching connector slots on adjacent plates.
• Allows multiple display plates to be securely connected.
• Additional connectors can be printed as needed.

Assembly

1. Arrange the desired display plates.
2. Align the connector slots between adjacent plates.
3. Insert a snap-fit connector into the corresponding slots.
4. Press until fully seated.

5. Repeat for additional modules.
