Descrição
Designed this mount so I could leave the roller attachment assembled and still use the chuck from the xTool RA2 without constantly swapping parts over.
This build reuses most of the original RA2 chuck assembly, including:
- Chuck
- Shaft
- Pulleys
- Belt
The original F628ZZ bearings from the RA2 can also be reused, although they were fairly difficult to remove from the factory assembly. It may honestly be easier for most people to just buy a new pair instead.
Additional parts required:
- Standard NEMA17 stepper motor
- Short lengths of 2020 extrusion
(or printed substitutes if preferred)
The design keeps the original belt drive setup while making the chuck setup much faster to install and remove. Slotted motor mounts allow belt tension adjustment, and the frame is designed to be rigid, simple, and easy to modify.
Print settings I used:
- 8 walls
- 50% infill
Probably overkill, but I wanted it strong and stiff with minimal flex during engraving. Depending on material and use, you could likely reduce this quite a bit.
