Chess Board

This is a modern full tournament-size chessboard designed as a modular 4-piece system for easy storage and transport.

Each quadrant connects securely using integrated dovetail joints, allowing the board to be assembled quickly while remaining stable during play. Since the board separates into four parts, it can be stored compactly without permanently gluing the sections together.

The individual chess squares are printed separately and glued onto the board base.
For additional functionality, every square can optionally be equipped with a 6x3 mm round magnet, enabling magnetic chess piece support or enhanced modularity.

The coordinate lettering is optimized for simple two-color printing:

• The white letters can be printed using a single filament color change
• No AMS/MMU required
• Clean and minimal visual appearance

Magnet Installation

To ensure proper magnetic alignment across the entire board, it is important that all magnets are inserted with the same polarity orientation.

Recommended Method

1. Take a stack of your 6x3 mm magnets.
2. Mark one visible side of the stack with a marker.
3. Always insert the magnets with the marked side facing upward (or downward) throughout the entire build.
4. Repeat this consistently for every chess square.

This guarantees that all magnetic fields are aligned identically and prevents accidental repelling behavior between pieces or board sections.

Tip

Insert and glue the magnets one row at a time to avoid mixing orientations during assembly. Super glue or epoxy adhesive is recommended for secure placement.
