Turn your empty cardboard filament spools from brands like Bambu Lab and others into practical, reusable storage containers with this simple and clever print project.
These compact spool containers are stackable and feature a secure twist-lock mechanism that works from both sides for easy opening and closing. Perfect for organizing small parts, screws, accessories, filament samples, or workshop items.
Designed for hassle-free 3D printing:
- No supports required
- No post-processing needed
- Easy and fast assembly
Simply print the bottom part and the top ring, slide them onto the cardboard spool core, and optionally use a little glue for extra hold. Done!
Included are two print profiles:
- A single-color version without text
A customizable version featuring an editable text field that can be changed directly in your slicer

Additionally, Print Plate 2 includes a connector adapter that allows you to combine two or more cardboard spool cores to create a deeper storage container.

This makes it easy to customize the box height depending on your storage needs while still maintaining the same stackable twist-lock design.
And I also played around with the laser module and the rotary attachment and add Makerworld Logos to the Cardboard.

A fun and sustainable way to recycle your used filament spools while creating something genuinely useful.
Have fun printing!
