Shape Sorting Cube

This Shape Sorting Cube is a fun, printable cube with different geometric cutouts and matching shape pieces.

The cube is approx. 9 × 9 cm and consists of 6 printable panels that are assembled into a cube. Each side has different shape cutouts, so the matching pieces can be sorted, inserted and discovered from different angles.

It is designed as a playful object for learning, sorting, focus and fidget use.

Printing Notes

• Print the panels flat on the build plate
• No supports required
• PLA works well
• PETG can also be used
• Check the fit of the shape pieces after printing
• For a tighter or looser fit, adjust your slicer settings if needed
• Multicolor versions can be printed by using different filament colors for each panel and shape piece

For children +6years, I recommend using bright colors for the cube and the matching parts to make the sorting game easier and more fun.

Assembly

The cube uses a simple panel-based construction.

Print all 6 panels and assemble them into the cube. The side edges use a finger-joint style design for alignment. Sometimes you have to force pressure.

Depending on your printer tolerance and material, the panels may hold together by friction. For a more permanent version, you can add a small amount of glue. See Assembly-Guide.

I designed this cube as a small, fun and useful 3D printed object that can be enjoyed by both kids and adults.
