Modelo 3D Cricket Bat Toe Guard por Gus no MakerWorld

Descrição

3D Printable Cricket Bat Toe Guard (Oversized & Untrimmed)

Protect your cricket bat from yorkers, damp creases, and toe swelling with this heavy-duty, customisable toe guard. Designed specifically for modern, thick-profile adult bats, this model is delivered as a flat, oversized blank, allowing the player to achieve a flawless, flush fit tailored to their exact bat shape.

📐 Dimensions

  • Length: 120 mm (Generously clears the legal 108 mm maximum bat width)
  • Width (Depth): 40 mm (Provides deep coverage to wrap up the face and thick edges)
  • Thickness: 2.0 mm (The perfect balance of impact absorption and flexible handling)

🚀 Recommended Print Settings

  • Material: TPU (95A Shore Hardness recommended). Do not use rigid plastics (PLA/PETG), as they will shatter upon impact.
  • Infill: 100% Solid (Grid or Gyroid pattern)
  • Walls/Perimeters: 4 to 5 lines (Ensures structural integrity during trimming)
  • Build Plate: Textured PEI (Provides a rough, matte backing that dramatically improves glue adhesion)

🧲 How to Add Glue-Grip Texture (Do This Before Slicing!)

To ensure the liquid glue or epoxy has maximum surface area to bite into, you should add a Fuzzy Skin texture to the top walls in your slicer software:

  1. Open the model in Bambu Studio or PrusaSlicer.
  2. Go to the Others (or Experimental) tab.
  3. Under Fuzzy Skin, select All walls (or Contour).
  4. Set Fuzzy Skin Thickness to 0.1 mm.
  5. Set Fuzzy Skin Point Distance to 0.1 mm.
This forces the printer nozzle to jitter slightly, creating a highly irregular, rough rubber texture that holds adhesive incredibly well.

✂️ Fitting & Trimming Instructions for Players

  1. Prep: Lightly sand the toe of the cricket bat to remove old adhesive, dirt, or oil.
  2. Glue: Apply a flexible, impact-resistant adhesive (like Araldite, Shoe Goo, or specialized cricket toe guard glue) to both the bat toe and the guard.
  3. Clamp: Firmly wrap the guard around the toe using electrical tape or rubber bands. Let it cure fully for 24 hours.
  4. Trim: TPU is incredibly tough and abrasion-resistant. For a clean finish, use a brand-new, razor-sharp utility knife. Tip: Dip the blade in soapy water or rubbing alcohol to lubricate the cut and prevent the rubber from binding.
