Print & Material Recommendations
Because a dishwasher is an incredibly harsh environment, material selection is critical for this part to last:
- Material: Do not use standard PLA, as it will deform and fail during the first hot wash or heated dry cycle. To ensure this wheel can easily handle the intense heat and aggressive chemical environment, this part was successfully printed and tested in carbon-fiber reinforced nylon (PA6-20CF). Utilizing a high-performance filament like PA6-20CF provides the exceptional heat deflection and mechanical strength required for long-term durability.
- Infill & Walls: Print with at least 4 to 6 perimeters (walls) and a high infill density (40% or higher, or solid 100%) to ensure the snap-fit axle hub has enough structural integrity and spring tension to snap into place without shearing.
- Orientation: Print flat on the build plate for optimal dimensional accuracy of the rolling surface and maximum strength across the snap-fit retention tabs.
