📝 Design Purpose

This part was created for users who have bins without a side locker system, especially those using the original bin design by @Jimbobble.

This new version was developed as an extension of that system, offering a more adaptable and practical retrofit solution.

Many users, myself included, upgraded to the newer Bin Stiffener version and were left with an unused bin. This Side Locker was designed as a simple way to bring those “leftover” bins back into a functional setup instead of letting them go unused.

As shown in the photos, I modified the original bin by making a small cut using a Dremel rotary tool and adapted the Side Locker system.

In my own setup, I used adhesive (Kraftprotz glue), which already provides a strong and reliable bond for daily use.

This idea came from purchasing a second Bambu Lab A1 printer, which left me with an unused bin from my original setup. Instead of letting it go to waste, I wanted to recycle and repurpose it, which led to this Side Locker solution.

For users who prefer a mechanical attachment, the model also includes mounting holes for:

• M3×5 (tight fit)
• M3×6 or M3×8 with nut support for additional adjustment and long-term durability

Note: Both PLA and PETG versions have been tested and work reliably. PETG is recommended for long-term strength, while PLA is suitable for fit testing and light use.

The alignment is designed to match the base of the bin container precisely, ensuring a clean fit with minimal gaps — making it feel almost like the Side Locker was part of the original print.

This system is also adaptable to other bin containers, as long as they follow a similar A1-compatible side rail concept. It can be installed using either adhesive or screws, depending on user preference. It is not exclusive to a single model and can be adapted to compatible geometries using the same principle.

This was created as a simple plug & play solution to recover and upgrade existing bins instead of discarding them.

All future creations will follow the same approach as either remixes or practical modular solutions.
