Hi there! My first ever MakerWorld post!
Ever since I came back to the game of MTG, my already present hobby of 3D printing and my autism led me to want to have matching items. So of course, I really wanted a command zone to match my vampire deck I was making upon my return. Sadly, all of the command zone trays that I found and printed were made for just sleeved cards. As I used printed showcase commander deckboxes, I kept my commanders in Top Loaders that never fit the trays I printed and had to sit on top.
Now, in my effort to make a more accessible command zone, I have designed this one purely from scratch! (This thing taught me Fusion lol)
Designed to match my Edgar Markov deck as well as my Clavileno deck, this vampiric command zone features the standard setup you should come to expect from a simple command zone tray. That said, specs of note are:
- Enemy commander damage and commander tax slots are fitted for standard D20 and D6 dice one can normally find on Amazon. As these appeared to be the most common dice I saw, (and the ones I personally also had), I went with these for sizing. If there is a large demand for a larger slot, I will consider modifying a print profile that can accommodate such a thing.
- The font used for the text seen is Trajan Pro. You will need to download the font and install it to your Mac or PC in order to be able to replicate what you see in this picture.
- Life Counter space is designed to sit a printed life spin counter made for a 40x40mm profile. (Counter itself should be around 39x39mm exactly (or less) when printed.) While the official life counters floating around in the commander anthology boxes are much, much smaller, this is also around the size I have seen many use. I went with this size to try and allow people to use whatever life counter they preferred to print.
While this tray was designed for my vampires, this post is me testing the waters. I have many, many more models of my own that I have designed, such as a library, graveyard and exile cradle stacked into a single column, a graveyard-play friendly design on a library cradle and even my own commander showcase deckbox, complete with recessed HueForge art panels!
I have designs for all of the strixhaven schools for command zones that I made using the same template as this vampiric zone. If there is enough of a good response or even just a loud enough ask, I will work on profiling them all and posting them individually!
Thank you so much for any feedback you may provide. I am still only a year or so into 3d printing and only just learning Fusion, Illustrator and Hueforge to better my designs. I welcome any tips or tricks to improve my designs!
Please, enjoy this design!
