I am fascinated by the Homeracker system to build a mini Server rack. I have very limited space and therefore used this instead of the other nicht systems.
Due to the very custom size of my Homeracker Rack I was looking for a cusomizable Network Patchfiled. I found one, (https://makerworld.com/en/models/2479980-homeracker-patch-panel-parametric) but unfortunately the cutouts for the HomeRacker corners are not correct.
And I wanted to include the ears from the plates design to give it additional strength (https://makerworld.com/en/models/1945329-homeracker-plates-fan-grills#profileId-2089683).
So I took both OpenSCAD-files and combined them. So, now the design is capable of having any number of Keystones in any form of front plate, with mounting points on any side.
Things possible with the Model right now:
- You can select the size of the panel, ears on each side, or not, flap for strengthening and mounting.
- You can have corner cutouts for the HomeRacker edges
- You can adjust the dimensions for your specific Keystone.
- You can select the number of keystones in rows and columns to form a grid.
- You can adjust the pitch of the grid
- You can move the Keystone grid off center
Notes:
- The Keystone can be made flush with the frontpanel. Depending on the dimension setting for “keystone_length_to_notch”. In that case you need to make the dimension for the “keystone_faceplate_height” a bit larger, or it might be impossible to install the keystone. I recommend doing a test print with only one keystone to test the fit. would make a chamfer in the design, but the calculation is a bit challenging.
- the Opening of the keystone in the front might look horizontally offzenter if you make only one row. this s due to the back of the keystone bein not symmetric in height. If it bothers you you can use the "grid_offset_y" to adjust the hight
- the ears have mounting holes like the original plates model. It might be tricky to use them due to the Keystone mount that extends in the same direction. If you plan to only mount it using the pin holes in the ears make sure to adjust the grid so that you can access at least a few of the pin holes. You have been warned.
Many thanks for the Work of @PanicPasta for the Plates model
and
for the work of @ZGoldberg for the initial Keystone Patchpanel.
I hope you find this usefull.
