Notice the magnificent cassis cristata, that heavy bronze helmet with its prominent dorsal fin crest; it doesn't just protect, it intimidates. He carries the massive scutum, a wall of wood and brass that makes him an impenetrable fortress, paired with the lethal gladius for those precise, finishing thrusts.
 

With his right arm shielded by the manica and his left leg guarded by the ocrea, he is built for the long, grueling grind of the heavy-class combat. He is the perfect counter for a Thraecian or a Retiarius.
