This is a support tower for a rotary laser or CNC chuck, similar to a tail stock adapter that you'd see in a lathe setup. It operates on a screw drive to raise and lower the internal platform and carries the load on two bearings to allow your object to spin freely and maintain a level alignment. I included two rollers with the build, one is more narrow and has a backstop, so you can choose one or print them both like I did for a quick change out. I finished the bottom of the tower with some felt to help it stay in place, but adhesive rubber would also work. If you're on a work table, I guess you could put in some through holes and bolt it down.
This tower requires something similar to the following. As you can see from my pictures, the bolts I'm using are either a little long or a little short, but I'm listing what the actual lengths should be that I'm going out to purchase shortly.
Cap and Slider assembly:
- 2 - M4 x 30 Machine/Socket Cap Screws (to secure cap to tower)
- 1 - M4 x 20 Machine/Socket Cap Screw (to secure rollers to slider)
- 3 - M4 Nuts
- 2 - 608 Series Bearings (608ZZ, 608RS, etc) 8mm ID, 22mm OD, 7mm Thickness
Tower height adjustment:
- 1 - 1/4-20 x 5 Machine Screw/Bolt
- 1 - 1/4-20 Nut (Nylon Lock Nut or Standard with Blue Locktite)
