Descrição
This is a fully parametric, print-in-place storage box designed in OpenSCAD. No assembly is required, and the model is designed to print without supports. Based on my previous fully customizable box design (https://makerworld.com/en/models/2749551) but with PACKOUT styling.

The box can be customized to different sizes, and the number of internal dividers can also be adjusted directly in the OpenSCAD file. This makes it easy to create anything from a simple open storage box to a divided organizer for small parts, hardware, electronics, craft supplies, or desk items.
A lot of print-in-place box designs require heavy support material for the lid, which makes printing slower, wastes filament, and can leave rough surfaces after removal. Other designs solve this by making the lid the same height as the box, but I find that style limiting when the box is opened. There are also designs where the lid is printed separately on the build plate, but that can reduce hinge strength since the hinge geometry is split across separate printed parts.
This design uses a two-segment hinge system so the lid can be printed directly on the build plate while still remaining attached to the box. The hinge is stronger and more practical than a separated lid layout, while still keeping the model print-in-place and support-free.
Another reason I made this in OpenSCAD is customization. Some parametric box designs made in Fusion 360 expose only a small number of parameters, and they also depend on Autodesk’s software ecosystem. With this OpenSCAD version, the design stays fully editable, script-based, and easy to modify.
The goal of this model is to combine the best parts of several box styles: fully customizable dimensions, adjustable dividers, no support material, no assembly, and a robust print-in-place hinge.
As a bonus, the hinge allows the lid to rotate all the way around and tuck underneath the box, which makes it easier to access parts while the box is open.
Notes:
I do not recommend reducing the box height below 30 mm. The width should generally be greater than 90 mm for the hinge and latch layout to work well.
If you are printing this in PLA, please wait until it is fully cooled down and then gently bend the hinge to free them. For the first couple of turns there will be some friction but it will wear in quickly. After the first couple of latches, the under side of the clamp will show strands of filament, just cut it off with a pocket knife, those are from the first layer of bridging.
If you are using the web interface parametric modeler, download the 3MF version that contains the color information. Bambu studio will automatically assign filaments.
General guide on how to use the latch: rub your thumb from the top and push the latch down around the center and close is the easiest way to latch it. Don't fight it at the tip of the latch.
