Ring Solar Panel (USB-C) Flat Mount Adapter for Flat Surface Mounting

Relocate your Ring Solar Panel (large, USB-C model) from the included adjustable wall mount to a flat surface like a roof, shed, or any flat mounting point. 

I originally designed this to solve a problem of squirrels chewing through exposed cables when the solar panel is mounted below a bird feeder.  I created this to mount to the roof of my bird feeder.

How It Works

The adapter mates with the existing rail mounting system on the back of the Ring Solar Panel — no modifications to the  panel needed. The stepped rail profile slides into the panel's built-in channels for a secure friction fit. The flat base can be attached with outdoor double-sided tape (like 3M VHB) or screwed down using the four countersunk M4 screw holes.

- Ring Solar Panel (USB-C, large model — the 2024+ version)
- NOT tested with the older micro-USB or smaller models

- 4x M4 countersunk screw holes
- Rail length: 37mm
- Friction fit — no clips, screws, or glue needed to hold the panel

Print Settings
- Print upside down (rail/pocket side on build plate)
- No supports needed — the base plate bridges cleanly over the pocket
- Recommended: PETG or ASA for outdoor UV and weather resistance (PLA will degrade outdoors)
- 3-4 walls, 30%+ infill for rigidity
- 0.2mm layer height works well

Assembly
1. Slide the solar panel onto the adapter rails from the open end
2. Attach the adapter to your mounting surface with VHB tape or M4 screws
3. Route the USB-C cable to your device
