Parametric Stackable Sieve / Sifter
This is a fully parametric, stackable sieve system designed in OpenSCAD. Whether you need to sort seeds, gravel, 3D printing scraps, or kitchen ingredients, this tool allows you to create a custom-tailored set of sieves that fit perfectly together.
Key Features
- Fully Parametric: Adjust diameter, height, and hole size to your exact needs using the MakerWorld Customizer.
- Smart Stacking: Features a "Nut & Feder" (Groove and Ridge) locking mechanism. The sieves center themselves and stay securely stacked.
- Flush Exterior: When stacked, the sieves form a smooth, continuous cylinder.
How to Customize
- Diameter: Set the outer size of your sieve.
- Hole Diameter: Choose the mesh size (e.g., 1.5mm for fine sand, 4mm for gravel).
- Wall Thickness: Recommended 4mm for a sturdy locking mechanism.
- Fit Depth: Controls how deep the sieves sit inside each other (default 4mm).
Print Instructions
- Supports: Not needed, but using it gives a slightly better result.
- Material: PLA works great for general use. Use PETG if you want to use it outdoors.
- Clearance: The default is 0.3mm. If the fit is too tight, increase the "Clearance" parameter to 0.4 or 0.5.
Technical Details (OpenSCAD)
The script uses a calculated grid to ensure holes are only placed within the inner diameter. The locking mechanism is built into the wall thickness to maintain a clean aesthetic while providing structural stability.
