Half Sphere - Wireless Charging Dock

This is a Wireless Charging Dock for Smartphones with magnetic and wireless charging capabilites in an elegant half-sphere design. Instructions and recommendations:

the dock consists of two parts. there is a front and the half-sphere bowl. the cable needs to go through the front cover, then you can push in the charging pad. the tolerances should be tight enough to hold it via friction. if not, use a little bit of glue or reprint in like 99.99 or 99.98 percent. i recommend using a very clean and perfectly smooth printbed for a good looking front-face of your charging dock. otherwise you will notice every fingerprint on the printed part. also the first layer should be perfect ofc.

Filament

i used a dark blue filament for the base with a subtle silky finish. a marble filament would also be recommended. for the front i recommend black, as it does not give too much contrast to the charging pad. i did not hide it in the front cover on purpose: it is easier to aim your phone when you put it there.

weight

for additional weight, i recommend using a zip-lock bag or something similar and regular household salt to fill the bag. the bag goes in the bowl. then you can adjust the lenght of the cable you want to stick out on the bottom and carefully clamp it in the socket in the bottom. if it is properly in, it should be able to move a little again. the rest of the cable can be stored inside the bowl, for a very clean surrounding.

reopening

the cover has 3 snaphooks which will hold it in the bowl.

if you need to reopen it, gently push through the bottom cable opening with a pen or something similar (take care not to damage the salt-bag). that should be sufficient to open the cover from the lid.

considerations

the angle of the charger is 30° to the floor, so the phone is not super steep. this is probably not perfect for the nightstand but for the workspace / office desk, where you look from higher up.
