I also prefer the logo to extrude from the top, gives it a bit wider angle of visibility imo. I also kept the part separate from the lid incase someone wanted to move it flush. 

The slot for the acrylic panel is up to 2mm or .08 inches thick. Panel size 172x197mm. Gives you some wiggle room expand a small amount if you'd like a snug fit. 

Magnet slots can use up to a 6x2mm magnet.

Hobby stores would be your best place to find the acrylic panels and usually have the means to cut them to size within the store. If you can find 2mm or .08in panels that would be the ideal fit.
