Overview This model is a physical manifestation of mathematical wave interference, designed specifically for the MakerWorld Parametric Design Contest. Generated entirely via an OpenSCAD algorithm, it translates abstract trigonometric functions into a tangible piece of modern home decor.
The Science of the Waves The surface topology is not sculpted manually. It is calculated using the physical principles of constructive and destructive wave interference—the exact same mechanics that govern quantum wave functions and electron orbitals in physical chemistry.
By utilizing a raised cosine function, the algorithm prevents negative Z-values, ensuring a pristine printable solid: Z = Base + Amplitude * (cos(Frequency * Distance) + 1) / 2
Parametric Customization Through the MakerWorld Customizer, users have absolute control over the spatial and geometric matrix:
- Dimensional Control: Adjust the total X/Y dimensions, frame thickness, and base depth.
- Wave Dynamics: Manipulate the global frequency and up to 5 independent wave sources.
- Intensity Mapping: Each of the 5 sources possesses a distinct X/Y coordinate slider and an independent intensity multiplier, allowing for infinite asymmetrical interference patterns.
Printing & Assembly: The model is engineered for zero-waste printing. The frame and the wave matrix are generated as independent volumetric meshes.
- Material Recommendation: Use a Matte filament for the frame to absorb light, and a Silk/Shiny filament for the wave panel to highlight the mathematical crests and troughs.
