Description
Modular Laboratory Bracket β Fully 3D Printed
A fully 3D-printable modular bracket system for any workbench or laboratory desk. We built it during our course at NaUKMA to solve an everyday annoyance: having to constantly grab your phone to check a datasheet while your hands are busy with electronics, soldering, or a robot build.
This bracket holds your phone exactly where you need it β and nowhere else.
β¨ Highlights
- 100% 3D printed β no screws, no bearings, no magnets, no metal hardware. Every single part comes off the build plate.
- Rubber-band tension β the phone holder grips your device using standard office rubber bands. Cheap, replaceable, surprisingly strong.
- Modular by design β quick-change interface lets you swap attachments without disassembly.
- Step-rotating joints β incremental positioning that locks in place and won't slip under load.
- Tool-less assembly β printed bolts and knobs only. Snap it together, clamp it down, done.
𧩠The System
Four modules, designed to work together or independently:
- Desk Mount β sturdy clamp base that mounts to the table edge using printed bolts.
- Step-Rotating Joint β incremental rotation mechanism with secure fixation.
- Extension Module β adds reach and provides two-axis adjustment.
- Quick-Change Phone Holder β rack-and-pinion mechanism that grips phones of various sizes.
Fully modeled in Fusion 360.
π¨οΈ Print Settings
| Parameter | Recommended |
|---|---|
| Printer | Bambu Lab A1 (or any FDM) |
| Layer height | 0.2 mm |
| Infill | 25% Gyroid |
| Walls | 4β6 (critical for joint and clamp strength) |
| Filament | PETG or ABS |
| Supports | Yes, for some modules |
β οΈ Don't skimp on wall count. The clamp and step-rotating joint take real mechanical load β 3 walls is not enough. PLA also works for testing, but we don't recommend it for the clamp under long-term tension.
π§ Assembly
No tools required. All fasteners are printed. Tighten the printed knobs by hand β they're sized for a firm grip without overtightening.
