Absolute Batman Book Nook — Battle Damaged
A battle-worn Dark Knight watches over your shelf. This book nook brings Tyler Kirkham's iconic battle-damaged Batman art to life in three dimensions, built using Statue Maker in Maker Lab for a sculpt that feels ripped straight from the page.
Designed for the serious collector, this piece sits flush between your books as a display-worthy insert that doubles as a conversation starter. The battle-damaged aesthetic — cracked cowl, worn armor, the weight of Gotham on his shoulders — translates remarkably well into print, with deep recesses and layered surface detail that reward a careful paint job.
Kirkham's art has always had that raw, kinetic energy, and this model captures that same tension in a static form. Whether you're a DC collector, a book nook enthusiast, or just a Batman fan who wants something more interesting on the shelf, this one delivers.
✨ Features
- 💎 High-poly sculpt generated via Statue Maker in Maker Lab, based on Tyler Kirkham's battle-damaged Batman artwork
- 🎨 Designed with multi-color or paint finishing in mind — recessed damage detail holds wash paints beautifully
- 📐 Book nook form factor — sized to slot between standard shelf books
- 🧩 Modular construction for easier printing of the full scene
🛠️ Printing Notes
- Supports: Likely required on overhang areas of the figure and cape — tree supports recommended for easier removal
- Layer height: 0.12–0.15mm for best surface detail on the figure; 0.2mm acceptable for structural book nook walls
- Infill: 15–20% for display pieces; increase to 30%+ for structural side walls
- Filament: Matte PLA or PLA+ works great for the figure — holds primer well for painting. Grey or dark grey base color simplifies finishing
- Bed size: Check your slicer — larger nook wall sections may need to be oriented diagonally on smaller beds
- Finishing tip: A heat gun or quick passes with a torch does a great job cleaning up layer lines and bringing out the sheen on silk filaments. Keep it moving — a few seconds per section is all it takes. For a painted finish, a light sand at 400 grit before priming makes a noticeable difference on the armor surfaces.
🎨 Customization Notes
- Scale up 10–15% if you want a chunkier shelf presence or use it as a standalone statue
- The battle damage recesses are ideal for a black wash + dry brush technique — even a basic acrylic pass elevates this significantly
- Swap the back wall color to match your shelf aesthetic — dark wood tones or deep blues complement the Batman palette well
