Modelo 3D Secret Message Decoder por PrintGeggo no MakerWorld

Descrição

Secret Message Decoder – 3D Printed Color Filter Magnifier

This 3D printing model is a specially designed decoder magnifier for secret messages. By strategically using red filament in the first layer, the magnifier acts as a color filter and allows hidden messages to be revealed.

How it works

A message is written with a blue pen and then completely covered with red scribbles. To the naked eye, the text becomes barely readable.

The red filter surface of the magnifier significantly reduces the visibility of the red color, while the blue text remains visible – allowing the hidden message to be decoded.

Word template for secret messages

A Word template (included in the zip file, or alternatively as a PDF) is also available for download. It contains two pages:

  • Page 1: The actual secret message, which can be customized and replaced
  • Page 2: Random letters or patterns, printed in red

Important printing note:
For best readability, it is recommended to print the secret message first, and then print the red letters or pattern over it.

If both elements are printed at the same time, the colors may mix, making the message harder to read with the magnifier.

Printing instructions for the magnifier

  • First layer: red filament
    • Tested with Bambu Lab PLA Basic Red (10200)
    • The filament is not transparent, but becomes sufficiently light-permeable due to the very thin first layer, allowing it to function as a color filter
  • Rest of the model:
Black filament looks best, but the model can also be printed entirely in red.
If you don’t have an AMS, you can pause the print after the first layer and switch the filament manually.
  • No supports required
  • A clean and even first layer is crucial for the filter effect
(Tip: Clean the build plate with water and soap before printing!)
  • The best results are achieved when printing the first layer slowly with a thick line width
(Exact settings are included in the profile)

Use cases

  • Secret messages & puzzles
  • Escape rooms & detective games
  • Education & experiments with color theory
  • Maker projects, games, or creative gifts (e.g., invitation cards)

The story behind the model

I originally designed this model for my daughter, who wanted a detective-themed birthday party.
It became a key element in a series of puzzles that the young detectives had to solve during a fun outdoor treasure hunt.

The magnifier was so popular that, in the end, every child got to take one home.
