A fully customizable desk nameplate generator in OpenSCAD. Enter your name and title, adjust the size, and print it in two colors for crisp engraved text — or use a single-color filament swap at the right layer height.

Features

• Name + title line: Two independent text fields with adjustable font size and spacing
• Engraved text: Recessed into the face for sharp definition; the plate prints face-down so the text sits against the smooth bed surface

How to Use

1. Use the MakerWorld Customizer to enter your name and title.
2. Adjust plate dimensions, text sizes, and stand angle as needed.
3. Export the STL.
4. Download the optimized print profile from this page, delete the sample models off the plate, and import your STL into it.

Customization Guide

Name & Title

• name: Your name or primary line of text.
• title: Optional subtitle line (leave blank for name-only).

Size

• plate_width: Total plate width in mm (100–350 mm).
• plate_depth: Front-to-back height of the face (30–80 mm).
• plate_thickness: Thickness of the plate body (2–8 mm).
• corner_radius: Radius of the front corners.

Text

• name_size / title_size: Font height in mm.
• text_depth: How deep the text is engraved into the face.
• text_font: Font name; default is Liberation Sans Bold. Any font installed in OpenSCAD works.
• text_halign: Left, center, or right alignment.
• line_spacing: Gap between name and title lines.

Stand

• display_angle: How far the plate leans back from vertical (5–45°). 15° is a comfortable reading angle.
• foot_depth: Length of the foot extending behind the plate.
• foot_thickness: Thickness of the foot at its tip.

Edge Outline & Accent Line

• edge_outline: Toggle the engraved border frame.
• edge_inset / edge_stroke / edge_depth: Border position and size.
• accent_line: Toggle the separator rule between name and title.
• accent_width_pct: Width of the accent line as a percentage of plate width.

Printing Tips

• Print face-down (text side on the bed). This is the default orientation and gives the smoothest text finish.
• Multi-color: Pause at text_depth mm height (e.g. 0.8 mm with default settings) and swap filament for a contrasting text color.
• Multi-material: Slice as two objects — the body and the text inlay — and assign different filaments.
• Single color: Still looks great; the engraved text reads clearly with a shadow effect.
• Material: PLA or PETG both work well. No supports needed.
• Infill: 15–20% is plenty for a nameplate.
