Descrição
Summary: A fully parametric six-sided die where you type whatever you want on each face — including negative numbers. Made because I needed a die with -3, -2, -1, 1, 2, 3 instead of the usual 1–6, and couldn't find a clean customizer that handled the minus sign properly.
Description:
This is a parametric D6 designed for OpenSCAD / MakerWorld Customizer. Every face is an independent text field, so you can put numbers, letters, symbols — anything your font supports. The default configuration is -3, -2, -1, 1, 2, 3, arranged so that opposite faces sum to zero (the "fair" equivalent of a standard die where opposites sum to 7).
Why another dice customizer? Most parametric dice on MakerWorld either don't accept negative values, or they render the minus sign using the font's native glyph — which on most sans-serif fonts is a thin horizontal line that almost disappears after a 0.4 mm nozzle pass. This model draws the minus sign as an explicit rectangle next to the digit, with adjustable thickness, so it stays readable whether you engrave or emboss it.
Features
- 6 independent face values (any string)
- Adjustable cube size and corner radius (0 = sharp edges)
- Engraved or embossed text — just flip the sign of the text depth
- Custom-drawn minus sign with adjustable stroke weight
- Opposite faces in the default config sum to 0 (fair distribution)
- Single SCAD file, no external dependencies
Print settings
- Any material works; PLA is fine
- 0.2 mm layer height recommended; 0.16 mm if you want crisper digits
- No supports needed
- For engraved text: print with the largest face down so the engraved faces stay clean
- For embossed text (negative text_depth): consider a brim — embossed letters on the bottom face can lift slightly
Tips
- If your minus sign still looks thin, increase minus_weight to 0.22–0.25
- For dice smaller than 14 mm, drop text_scale to ~0.5 so digits don't crowd the edges
- You can put words on the faces too (e.g. YES/NO/MAYBE) — just keep them short
