Hi!
This is the first version of my self-designed cycloidal gearbox demonstrator. It’s compact, prints well with minimal supports, and fits nicely in your hand — perfect for exploring and understanding how a cycloidal drive works.
The goal of this model is not maximum performance, but to provide an intuitive and visual way to see the motion and principle in action.
If you need help assembling the gearbox, check the explosion video or just reach out — I’m happy to help!
Required hardware
- 3× 24×15×5 mm bearings
- 1× 18×12×4 mm bearing
- 3× M3 heat inserts
- 3× M3×12 barrel head screws
Notes
- Print orientation and tolerances are optimized for easy assembly
- No sanding should be required, the bearings are a press fit
- Works fine printed in PLA
Future improvements
I’m currently working on a new version that:
- reduces or eliminates the need for additional bearings
- minimizes required hardware
- aims for a fully 3D-printable (or close to) demonstrator
