Is your 30mm fan causing annoying resonance and vibrations on your machine? Silence it with this flexible, spring-action TPU mount!
I designed this custom fan isolator specifically for 30x30mm cooling fans. When printed in TPU, the curved "leaf-spring" struts act as shock absorbers. This prevents high-frequency vibrations from the fan motor from transferring to your toolhead, laser module, or heatsink, resulting in a significantly quieter machine and potentially cleaner prints/engravings by reducing micro-chatter.
✨ Key Features:
- Two-Part Design for Easy Install: No more wrestling with tight clearances! The mount is split into two separate pieces, making it incredibly simple to align your fan, insert the screws, and tighten everything down without the TPU getting in your way.
- Two Variants Included:
- Active Vibration Dampening: The unique curved strut design maximizes the flexible properties of TPU to absorb shock.
- Support-Free: Carefully optimized to print perfectly without any messy supports.
🔩 Hardware Required:
- Standard M3 bolts (Length depends on your fan thickness, usually M3x12mm or M3x16mm for a standard 3010 fan).
- ⚠️ IMPORTANT - Anti-Loosening Nuts/Glue: Because the TPU is flexible and compressible, standard nuts will vibrate loose over time. You must use either Nyloc nuts (nuts with the nylon/rubber ring inside) OR use thread fixation glue (like Loctite/threadlocker) on standard nuts to ensure they stay secure.
🖨️ Print Settings & Recommendations:
- Material: TPU is required for this design to function correctly. A softer TPU (like 95A or softer) yields the best dampening results.
- Orientation: Print the models flat on their sides. This orientation requires 0 supports, prints very cleanly, and ensures the layer lines run along the length of the struts for maximum strength and flexibility.
- Wall Loops: 3 to 4 walls (perimeters) for durability.
- Infill: 15-20% Gyroid or Grid (though mostly it will print as solid walls due to the thinness of the struts).
- Supports: None!
(Note: In the photos, the model is shown mounted between a laser module heatsink and a 30mm fan, but this works great for 3D printer hotends, stepper motor coolers, or any 30mm fan application!)
